Chiefs Suffer Embarrassing Pre-Season Loss To Vitesse

Kaizer Chiefs kicked off their pre-season tour in the Netherlands with a disappointing 2-1 loss against SBV Vitesse Arnhem on Tuesday night.

The match saw a crucial own goal from Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons, contributing to the upset against a team that only managed five points in the Dutch league last season.

Match Highlights and New Signings’ Debut

Chiefs initially took the lead in the 37th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box by Reeve Frosler. However, their advantage was short-lived as Solomons inadvertently scored an own goal in the 46th minute, drawing Vitesse level. Vitesse then sealed their victory, handing Amakhosi an embarrassing defeat.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi utilized the friendly to assess his squad, handing starts to new signings Thabiso Monyane and Flavio Da Silva. Exciting young winger Mfundo Vilakazi also featured in the starting lineup. In goal, Brandon Petersen started ahead of Bruce Bvuma, who came on in the second half.

Chiefs will be eager to bounce back from this disappointing start when they face FC Utrecht on 11 July. The match will take place at Garderen, a training ground, and will be closed to the public.
