Chiefs Confirm The First Departure

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of midfielder Sabelo Radebe, who struggled to establish himself within the first team squad.
Radebe is the first player to officially leave Chiefs following his return from a loan spell at Richards Bay FC this past season. Kaizer Chiefs had loaned him out with the aim of securing more game time for their academy graduate, but he unfortunately failed to make a significant impact at the KwaZulu-Natal club.
He was released by Bay before the season concluded, signaling that he was not deemed up to the task under coaches Brandon Truter, Papi Zothwane, Siboniso Gumede, and Ronnie Gabriel.
Despite Radebe’s struggles, the Natal Rich Boys remarkably finished in the top eight for the first time in their history.
The 25-year-old made just three appearances for Bay, with his last outing coming against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 in January.
At Chiefs, where he was promoted to the senior team ahead of the 2020/21 season, Radebe featured in only 18 matches across all competitions, without scoring a goal but providing one assist.
Despite his limited playing time, he does possess a CAF Champions League silver medal, having been part of the Chiefs squad that lost to Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly in the final during his promotion season.
