Chiefs Suffer A Third Loss In The League
Kaizer Chiefs suffered their third league loss of the season, going down 2-0 to Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership match at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Oswin Appollis scored in the first half from a tight angle before Mokibelo Ramabu scored the second in the 90th minute to complete a good day in the office for Polokwane.
Both Chiefs and Polokwane were in control of the game in the early stages of the game, and City almost got a goal in the 13th minute but Douglas Mapfumo’s header went wide.
The home side got the first goal in the 17th minute through Bafana Bafana attacker Appollis scoring his first goal of the season.
Amakhosi got their first chance in the 28th minute, but Yusuf Maart’s shot from outside the box went wide. Nasreddine Nabi’s side got another opportunity to score after 35 minutes but Rise and Shine’s defenders were not sleeping at the back.
The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the home side. Nabi made three changes before the second half started as he introduced Thatayaone Dithlokwe, Teboho Potsane, and Mfundo Vilakazi for Bradley Cross, Wandile Duba, and Gaston Sirino, in the hope of getting back in the game.
Chiefs got so many chances in the first 15 minutes of the second half but failed to score at least one goal on their chances.
Rise and Shine got a clear chance in the 66th minute but Hlayisi Chauke’s header went straight to the hands of Brandon Petersen.
Tebogo Potsane almost got an equalizer for Amakhosi in the 82nd minute, but his shot hit the bar. Two minutes after Potsane’s chance, Ashley Du Preez got a chance but his bicycle kick went over the bar.
