Ncikazi Targets Crucial Three Points Against Sundowns

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi says the team is heading into their blockbuster clash against Mamelodi Sundowns with a clear mindset and a single objective — to secure victory.
The two South African giants, both proudly bearing stars above their crests for winning the CAF Champions League, will face off in a top-of-the-table showdown at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
Pirates currently lead the Betway Premiership standings with 38 points from 16 matches, holding a six-point advantage over second-placed Sundowns, who have a game in hand.
A win for the Buccaneers would open up a commanding nine-point lead at the summit. However, victory for Sundowns would cut the gap to just three points, with the added advantage of a match still to play.
The stakes are high for Pirates, who are chasing their first league title since the 2011/12 season. Avoiding dropped points against their closest rivals could prove decisive in the title race.
“Preparations are clear; we are preparing to win the match,” said Ncikazi.
“We prepare for every game with the intention of getting maximum points. On Wednesday, the focus is on giving our best effort and securing the three points.
“Our preparation is centred on winning the match — that’s the only objective.”
Pirates head into the encounter with confidence, having gone unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions against Sundowns, three of which have come this season.
Notably, Pirates defeated Sundowns in their last meeting at FNB Stadium, with Relebohile Mofokeng netting a memorable brace.
