Sebelebele: We Knew Sundowns Defenders Are Slow

TS Galaxy’s Man of the Match, Kamogelo Sebelebele, revealed that their strategy against Mamelodi Sundowns targeted the perceived slowness of Sundowns’ defenders.
This tactic proved successful as Galaxy secured a 1-0 victory in their Betway Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.
Galaxy’s disciplined performance frustrated Sundowns, denying them space and time to create scoring chances. Their resolute defensive line prevented Sundowns from having any clear-cut opportunities. Sebelebele’s goal, scored just before halftime, proved to be the decisive moment.
“Obviously, it’s Mamelodi Sundowns, and the coach told us to apply a medium or low block and try to catch them on the counter-attack,” Sebelebele explained. “We know their defenders are slow, and that worked for us because when they attack, they attack in numbers and leave fewer men behind. So, that’s why we attacked and scored.”
The goal was enough to secure the win, handing Sundowns their first league defeat under coach Miguel Cardoso and their second of the season.
Galaxy’s victory ended Sundowns’ 10-game winning streak and propelled them to fourth place with 25 points from 17 matches. They are now unbeaten in 11 matches under coach Adnan Beganović, who took over from Sead Ramovic in October.
Despite the loss, Sundowns remain at the top of the league table with 42 points from 16 games, nine points ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have two games in hand.
