Sundowns Confirm Basadien Signing
Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed their first signing of the transfer window: Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC.
This comes after the Brazilians released seven players at the end of June.
The 28-year-old left-back joined Stellenbosch in July 2022 from Moroka Swallows. He is now the third player Sundowns have acquired from Stellies in the past three transfer windows, following the signings of Iqraam Rayners at the start of last season and Jayden Adams in January.
Basadien leaves Stellenbosch with an impressive record of 111 appearances across all competitions, having scored eight goals and provided 18 assists. Notably, one of his goals came against Sundowns last season during the MTN8 semi-finals, a match in which Stellies emerged victorious.
Basadien will face stiff competition for the left-back position at Sundowns, contending with established players such as Divine Lunga, Aubrey Modiba, Terrence Mashego, and Asekho Tiwani.
