Sundowns Draw Malien In Champions League Quarter-Finals

Mamelodi Sundowns have been drawn against Malian side Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals following Tuesday’s official draw.
Sundowns booked their place in the last eight by the narrowest of margins, securing qualification with a crucial victory over MC Alger, coached by Rulani Mokwena, in their final group-stage match this past weekend.
Having finished second in their group behind Al Hilal SC, Sundowns went into the draw unseeded.
The Brazilians were placed in Pot 1 alongside the other group runners-up: RS Berkane, AS FAR and Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
The four group winners were drawn from separate pots: Pyramids FC (Group A), Al Ahly FC (Group B), Al Hilal SC (Group C) and Stade Malien (Group D).
Stade Malien topped Group D ahead of Espérance, Atlético Petróleos de Luanda and Simba SC, coached by Steve Barker.
