White Demands World-Class Talent To Motsepe And Co.

Coach Jake White has implicitly conveyed to the club’s owners, including South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe, his desire to coach the world’s best players, emulating Leinster’s roster.
White emphasized his need to “fight fire with fire” when competing at the highest level.
The former Springboks coach witnessed his team comprehensively defeated 32-7 by Leinster in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship final at Croke Park Stadium on Saturday, a result White admitted “could have been worse.”
Leinster established a commanding 19-point lead in the first half and maintained their intensity in the second, even bringing on powerhouse RG Snyman to exert further pressure on the South African side, which ultimately crumbled.
Experienced fullback Willie le Roux’s cross-kicks were frequently intercepted by Leinster players, with White acknowledging that his team was “under the pump” and crediting the Irish side for their performance.
“Even though it is straight after the game, we need more international players in our province,” stated the 2007 Springbok World Cup-winning coach.
“I need what Leinster have. I need to be able to fight fire with fire, and that is not going to change, guys. I mean, I’m going to ask you a question: Leinster to Toulouse, Leinster to La Rochelle, what do you think you need to win those games [against those teams]? Academy players or seasoned internationals?
“I think the biggest cheer was Jordie Barrett. Is he Irish? So, please don’t take it the wrong way, that’s what I would love to get.
“I would love to sit in the coach’s box and be 19 up and say, ‘RG, warm up’ and put him on and let him menace our defense like he did. Even though you know he is going to do it and still does it. So, it’s irrelevant to be asking me because that has been [the case] from the day I took over the job.
“I keep banging the same drum, guys. I have coached the best players; I have coached some of the best players in the world. In fact, I have coached players who have won [World Rugby] Player of the Year twice, so I know what it’s like to coach the best players in the world.
“It doesn’t matter how you look at it. If you are playing against 23 internationals, and Leinster was short, they only had 22. It’s a completely utter difference… “
White continued: “I know this will make headlines, but this is one of the best Leinster sides they have ever had. I was sitting with Leo Cullen [Leinster coach], and he told me when Kevin Pat played here, how Kevin used to say how amateurish Leinster were, drinking weekly, and fast forward, now I said to him over and over, ‘You are the benchmark that clubs want to achieve.’ You have international coaches; you have foreigners who are coming in, and they take your team to another level.
“I will say this again, I’m envious, really envious [of what Leinster have] because if you are going to fight fire with fire, you want to go to a gunfight; you can’t go with a knife.”
