Usuthu Target Magesi Attacker

Sportswire has been informed that AmaZulu have set their sights on Magesi FC attacker Mncedi Vandala.

Although Magesi were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season via the PSL promotional/relegation playoffs, Vandala remained a bright spark in their attacking department.

The 31-year-old wore the number 10 jersey for his club, and it is this creative playmaker role that AmaZulu have eyed him for ahead of next season.

Usuthu relied heavily on Hendrick Ekstein as they secured a fourth-place finish last term, with the former Kaizer Chiefs attacker enjoying arguably the best spell of his career.

The 35-year-old, who is currently in the twilight of his playing days, featured in 27 league matches, contributing five goals and three assists.

This impressive form prompted AmaZulu to recently tie him down by extending his contract for another year.

However, there are underlying concerns that Usuthu might not get the same output from Ekstein next season, prompting coach Arthur Zwane to explore other options in that position.

Vandala featured in 26 matches across all competitions for Magesi, netting seven goals and providing four assists. It is these clinical numbers that have attracted AmaZulu’s interest in the versatile player, who can also operate as a right winger.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu—who recently renewed coach Zwane’s contract for a further two years—are also reported to have secured the signings of Omega Mdaka, Lekoloane Khomotjo, and Gape Moralo.
