CSA Unveils 2026-27 National Contracts: New Faces Emerge

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially announced the central contract lists for the Proteas Men’s and Women’s teams for the 2026-2027 season.
Running from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027, the new roster features 18 fully contracted players and a strategic focus on the “Players of National Interest” (PONIS) pipeline.
The upcoming cycle is a defining one for the men’s side as they defend their ICC World Test Championship title and prepare for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup on home soil. Headline additions to the men’s list include maiden national contracts for seamer Ottneil Baartman and all-rounder Corbin Bosch, alongside rising batting stars Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis.
A major talking point is the omission of veteran finisher David Miller. Having previously held a hybrid contract, Miller’s absence has sparked immediate speculation regarding his potential international retirement. Meanwhile, veteran off-spinner Simon Harmer remains the sole recipient of a hybrid contract, offering him flexibility between bilateral series and global franchise leagues.
On the women’s side, 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso has secured her first national contract. Her promotion follows a stellar breakout year that included a standout performance at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India. The Proteas Women are now intensifying preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England this June.
“With a significant season ahead, it is vital that we continue building depth through our pipeline,” said CSA Selection Convener Patrick Moroney. “We believe these groups provide a strong base to remain competitive at the highest level.”
