“There Is No Losing” – Miguel Vows Chiefs Will Overturn CAF Deficit

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has assured Amakhosi supporters that the team will overturn their first-leg deficit against Zambian outfit Red Arrows and progress to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night.

Amakhosi host Kalilo Kakonke’s side under immense pressure in Durban following a 1-0 preliminary-round first-leg defeat in Zambia last weekend.

Reaching the group stage—mirroring their continental run last season—remains essential for Chiefs as they look to appease a restless fanbase.

While Amakhosi remain undefeated in the Betway Premiership this season, their recent overall form has faltered, leaving them winless across their last four matches in all competitions.

Despite the slump, Miguel remained defiant when asked about the stakes heading into Friday’s crucial return leg.

“I’m not even thinking about losing the game on Friday,” said Miguel bullishly.

“There is no losing for Friday; I cannot think about something that won’t happen. My mindset is that we are going into the match to win.”

Under-fire head coach Fernando da Cruz has faced increasing scrutiny over his tactical setup and communication, with critics questioning the Frenchman’s reliance on an interpreter during team meetings and media briefings.

However, Miguel—who previously dismissed claims that tactical instructions were getting lost in translation—admitted the squad is traversing a difficult patch, but insisted it is merely a temporary phase.

“For us at the club, there is no decline,” Miguel said.

“We are trying to be positive and look at things objectively. Obviously, we are not in a good moment; it is a phase. But we can see things.

“If we get into that kind of atmosphere, things will go wrong. I respect your opinion; I respect everybody’s opinion. For us, it is time to work, get ourselves together and get past this.

“But I can tell you, there is no decline, and I don’t know why you are saying this, because this is just a phase.

“In a season, you have bad moments, and our focus is not on that; our focus is on how we can get out of this.

“Our focus is just to go out on the field, fight and come back with the victory on Friday.”
