Cape Town City Sign Ex-Chiefs Defender

Cape Town City has confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo.

Ngcobo had been without a club after his time with Sekhukhune United, which he joined at the start of the season.

Sekhukhune signed him after he left Chiefs, where he spent two seasons with the Amakhosi. Ngcobo struggled for playing time at Sekhukhune, appearing in just six matches across all competitions.

The signing of Ngcobo signals a clear intent from Cape Town City, who were relegated from the Betway Premiership to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of last season.

The club is determined to return to the top flight next season, following owner John Comitis’s attempts to buy the status of Richards Bay and his legal battle with the PSL regarding the allegedly unlawful registration of Marumo Gallants player, Monde Mphambaniso.

Ngcobo will be looking to regain the form that earned him the PSL Defender of the Season award in the 2020/21 season with Moroka Swallows. Throughout his career in the PSL top flight, Ngcobo has played in 86 matches and scored three goals.
