Former Chiefs Winger Completes Move To Siwelele

Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Kgaogelo Sekgota has completed a move to Siwelele.
Sekgota’s career has experienced a downturn in recent years, most notably after he was admitted to rehabilitation for alcohol-related issues.
The 27-year-old, who was training with the club as revealed by the website a few weeks ago, was once regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising attacking talents.
He was most recently on the books of Magesi last season, where he made just nine appearances in all competitions.
This followed his release by Stellenbosch FC during the 2023/24 season due to off-field issues, despite featuring in 17 matches for the Cape Winelands side. His contract under then head coach Steve Barker was subsequently terminated, after which he returned to Limpopo to join Magesi.
Sekgota joined Stellenbosch after spending two seasons at Kaizer Chiefs between 2021 and 2023, having arrived from Moroka Swallows. Chiefs had previously loaned him to Swallows during the 2020/21 season, along with Sifiso Hlanti, while the club was serving a FIFA transfer ban.
He initially returned to the PSL in the second half of the 2019/20 season, signing for Bidvest Wits under coach Gavin Hunt after leaving Portuguese side Vitória Setúbal.
Earlier in his career, Sekgota also had a stint in Lithuania with Stumbras, where he played alongside fellow South African Jaisen Clifford, now with Marumo Gallants and currently the club’s top scorer.
The duo helped Stumbras lift the club’s first-ever trophy in 2016, before Sekgota later secured a move to Portugal.
The Limpopo-born attacker will be hoping to make his debut when Siwelele visit Richards Bay at Umhlathuze Stadium on Friday (19:30).
