Injury Crisis Hits The Sharks

The Hollywoodbets Sharks have confirmed that captain André Esterhuizen, Phatu Ganyane, and Jurenzo Julius sustained significant injuries during their bonus-point win over Cardiff Rugby in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship on Friday and are returning to South Africa.

To replace the injured trio, the Durban-based side has called up Cameron Dawson, Litelihle Bester, and Suleiman Hartzenberg ahead of their final tour match against Irish heavyweights Munster in Limerick on Saturday.

The Sharks were forced to dig deep after coming under intense pressure in Wales, battling against a strong wind with their lead cut to 21–17.

Despite a physically demanding contest, JP Pietersen’s men rallied to secure a crucial 36–21 victory, lifting them to fifth in the URC standings with 15 points from four matches (three wins, one loss).

In an official statement, the franchise confirmed the medical updates:

“After the bonus-point 36–21 victory over Cardiff Rugby in Friday night’s Vodacom United Rugby Championship fixture, the Hollywoodbets Sharks can confirm that three out of the four players who picked up injuries and were forced to leave the field during the match will return to South Africa.

“Andre Esterhuizen sustained a right ankle injury, Phatu Ganyane an injury to his right elbow, and Jurenzo Julius a right hamstring injury.

“All three players will undergo scans and consult with specialists on their return home to determine the severity of their injuries.

“The Sharks wish Andre, Phatu and Jurenzo a speedy recovery.

“The squad has been bolstered by three replacements, Cameron Dawson, Litelihle Bester and Suleiman Hartzenberg, who joined the team on Sunday.

“The Hollywoodbets Sharks will look to finish the tour on a strong note when they face Munster in their final match of the tour on Saturday, before teams break for the Nations Cup fixtures in November.”
