Pirates Maintain Top Spot While Chiefs Continue To Falter

Orlando Pirates continued with their great, impressive form in the DStv Diski Challenge following their 2-1 victory against Sekhukhune United at UJ Soweto Stadium on Saturday.

This was Pirates’ 13th victory of the season in 17 games, and they remain the only team with fewer losses, having lost just three games so far this season.

The Buccaneers are also the log leaders with 43 points, as they’re looking to secure their first Diski Challenge title.

The defending champions, Kaizer Chiefs, on the other hand, didn’t find a victory once again, as they played a 0-0 draw against TS Galaxy at Dobsonville Stadium.

Last week, the Phefeni Glamour Boys suffered a disappointing loss to Marumo Gallants, as they went two games winless.

Amakhosi remains in eighth place with 27 points, and they still have one game in hand, having played just 16 games.

On Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns beat Siwelele 2-1 at UJ Soweto Stadium to maintain their second spot in the Diski Challenge.

The Brazilians have 36 points, and they’re seven points behind the Buccaneers.

In other games, the two-time champions Stellenbosch beat Magesi 4-1 at Idas Valley Stadium, while Golden Arrows won 4-3 in the KZN Derby against Richards Bay at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

On Sunday, Chippa United suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss against Durban City at home, while AmaZulu won 1-0 against Marumo Gallants at Dr Molemela Stadium.

The last game between Polokwane City and Orbit College at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium ended in a goalless draw.
