Royal AM Expelled In The Nedbank Cup By The PSL

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has withdrawn Royal AM from the Nedbank Cup due to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) seizing the club’s assets.

With the club’s affairs now managed by a SARS-appointed curator, Royal AM has not played a match in 2025, resulting in their absence from the Nedbank Cup round of 32 against Milford FC.

As there is no immediate resolution in sight, the PSL has awarded Milford FC a walkover, and Royal AM has been removed from the competition.

It remains uncertain whether Royal AM will be able to participate in any league matches this year.

“The NSL Executive Committee convened on Monday to consider further representations from the curator and management of Royal AM Football Club,” the PSL stated in a press release.

“After reviewing these representations, the Executive Committee, in agreement with Royal AM and the Curator, determined that Royal AM Football Club will not participate further in the Nedbank Cup competition this season, to ensure the competition proceeds without undue delay.”

“Nedbank Cup fixture number 21, between Milford FC and Sekhukhune United FC, has been scheduled for 15:00 on Sunday, 2 March 2025, at Princess Magogo Stadium.”

“The League will announce ticketing information in due course.”

Royal AM’s last match was a Betway Premiership fixture against TS Galaxy on 29 December at Harry Gwala Stadium, where they lost 3-1.

Having not played since, they currently sit at the bottom of the league standings with eight points from 11 matches.
