Three Bafana Make COSAFA Best XI
Three players from the Bafana Bafana squad have been named in the Best XI for the COSAFA Cup tournament, which concluded this past weekend in Bloemfontein.
Vela Khumalo’s side lost 3-0 to Angola in the final at Toyota Stadium on Sunday, with Angola successfully retaining the trophy they also won last season in Port Elizabeth.
The three Bafana Bafana players who made the cut are TS Galaxy duo Kamogelo Sebelebele and Puso Dithejane, along with SuperSport United midfielder Gape Moralo.
As expected, given their victory, Angola dominates the Best XI with seven players, and their coach, Pedro Goncalves, who led the side to the title, was also recognized.
Comoros, who lost to the makeshift Bafana Bafana side in the semi-final, have one player, Idris Mohamed, included in the Best XI.
Comoros also secured a bronze medal with a 1-0 victory over fellow islanders Madagascar in the third and fourth-place playoff. This marked Comoros’ best-ever finish in the competition.
