Pirates Win Appollis Race

Orlando Pirates has officially confirmed the blockbuster signing of highly sought-after attacker Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City.

Appollis’s arrival marks the Buccaneers’ ninth new acquisition in this transfer window, coinciding with the appointment of their new head coach Abdelsam Ouaddou

The Bafana Bafana international joins a growing list of new faces at Pirates, including Yanela Mbuthuma (Richards Bay), Masindi Nemtajela (Marumo Gallants), Tshepang Moremi (AmaZulu), Nkosikhona Ndaba (Richards Bay), Sinoxolo Kwayiba (Chippa United), Tshepo Mashiloane (Baroka), and Sihle Nduli (Stellenbosch).

Appollis had been a transfer target for some time, with all of the PSL’s “big three” clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, vying for his signature. However, Orlando Pirates successfully won the race to secure the talented attacker.

The former SuperSport United player enjoyed a productive two seasons with Polokwane City, scoring nine goals in 59 appearances.

On the international stage, Appollis has earned 11 caps for South Africa and was a member of Hugo Broos’s squad that clinched the bronze medal at last year’s delayed Africa Cup of Nations.
