Mabasa Sets Sights On Glory Ahead Of 2025/26 Season

As the 2025/26 season approaches, Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has expressed his team’s determination to conquer all competitions they will be participating in.
The Buccaneers will be taking part in the CAF Champions League, Betway Premiership, MTN8 Cup, Nedbank Cup, and Carling Knockout, and Mabasa believes that with their new jerseys, they will showcase their capabilities and make a strong statement this season.
“We are going for everything this season,” Mabasa told Newsroom Afrika.
“Not only the league, the Champions League, Nedbank Cup, MTN8 Cup; we are going for everything this season. With these new jerseys, we’ll definitely showcase what we are capable of this season.”
Mabasa’s confidence stems from the team’s preseason camp in Spain, where they spent time bonding and fine-tuning their skills.
The camp was particularly important for the new players who recently joined the club, as it allowed them to integrate seamlessly into the team. Mabasa highlighted the importance of unity and brotherhood within the team, which was a key focus of the camp.
“It was a very good camp in Spain to get used to the new guys and also the old guys,” Mabasa said.
“We also have many young guys within the group, and it was all about bringing that brotherhood and unity that we’ve always had as a team.”
The Buccaneers will face a busy schedule this season, with long traveling and a packed fixture list. Mabasa emphasized the need for every player to be committed and work together as a team to achieve their goals.
“This season we are about to have is going to be a long, quiet season with long traveling,” Mabasa warned.
“So, we’re going to need everyone because this camp helped us to be together as a team.”
The team’s first task will be in the MTN8 quarterfinal against Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium next week on Saturday.
This will be a crucial test for the Buccaneers, who will be looking to build on their success in the competition last season, where they won the title by beating Stellenbosch 3-1 in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Despite their success in the MTN8 last season, the Buccaneers managed to win only one competition out of all the competitions they participated in.
However, with their sights set on glory this season, Mabasa and his teammates are determined to make a strong impact and bring home multiple trophies.
