Du Preez Confident Ahead Of The New Season

As the Betway Premiership prepares to kick off this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez expressed confidence in Amakhosi’s ability to apply the lessons learned from their preseason training camp in the Netherlands to the league games.

This was the second time Chiefs were doing their preseason abroad, as last year they went to Turkey.

“Preseason friendly games that we played, we learned a lot from our opponents, and I think we can take that to the league,” Du Preez said.

The team’s preseason training camp in the Netherlands saw them play against top-tier teams, providing valuable experience for the players.

Du Preez praised the team’s performance, saying, “The way we played and competed against the highest level teams in the Netherlands, I think it was a good preseason.”

The former Stellenbosch striker also highlighted the team’s energy and mindset, stating, “We as a team look good together, and in camp, we have energy and the same mindset on what we want to achieve this season.”

He added, “So, for me, I think we can take what we learned from the preseason and apply it to the league games on the highest level and compete.” Du Preez also expressed excitement for the new season, saying, “I’m really excited for the season, and even my teammates are so excited, and we’ve set our own goals as players, which it’s the highest-level goals.”

The 28-year-old also had positive things to say about the newly signed players and the young players promoted from the DStv Diski Challenge team.

“With the new players and the young players, I think the young players from the DDC, the coach saw what they are capable of doing,” he said.

“Our job as senior players is to motivate them and tell them what the club is all about and what we want to achieve.” He concluded.

“We are also looking forward to the new players combining with us throughout the season. But I think all of them have been looking good, and we’re excited as a team together.”

Amakhosi will kick off their season against Stellenbosch on Sunday in what would be a fully packed Athlone Stadium, with tickets already sold out.

Nasreddine Nabi’s team will be looking to build on their Nedbank Cup win last season and make a strong impression in the league.
