Miguel Calls Sundowns Clash A ‘Big Test’

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has emphasized that playing against Mamelodi Sundowns will be a big test for them and hopes that they come out victorious on the day.

Chiefs will host Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday [19:30] for the Betway Premiership league. They will look to maintain their winning streak as they have won their first three matches since the start of the season.

Additionally, the Glamour Boys currently occupy the second position with nine points while followed by Sundowns in the third spot with seven points, having drawn their first game and won the following two.

“All the games that Kaizer Chiefs play have to be game to win, of course, with the respect as I’ve said before for Sundowns,” said Miguel, who was named the Chiefs captain.

“Well, big team, big club, of course playing at home, having our supporters not only at home because we’re always playing at home, so we’re playing in Joburg in our city. It’s like you said, we have to create our castle here to get the maximum points in this PSL.

“Of course, Sundowns, it will be a big test, but I think the boys are ready, the team is ready to face this challenge, and hopefully we will get out with a win,” Miguel stated.

Miguel has stated that securing the three clean sheets has been the result of their impressive preparations in the pre-season, having gone to the Netherlands for their pre-season tour.

“Yes, from the last season I said that it’s a process, and now we’re in the middle of the process. I think we are now starting to have some results, I think we have the results of the hard work we put in the pre-season,” said Miguel.

“Even if we didn’t have the best results, we know that we are working for something. We had our settlement to go into the PSL and to test it, so by the time it’s working, we will see on Wednesday what Sundowns are capable of doing, but of course, we’re in a good moment and we’re trusting one another, and I think that’s the biggest difference from the last season.”

The skipper added that the team is more connected, which is different from the previous season, and they are now reaping the rewards of that.

“This season, our team is more connected, and that’s what we’re looking for in the pre-season to work on the connection, to create the bond, and I think we’re having the results. Of course, it’s too early to say that we can achieve something or not, but from the moment I’m very happy with the team and our defence, we’re doing a good job, I think,” Miguel added.
