Durban City Show Interest In Mashego From Sundowns

Durban City has expressed interest in signing out-of-favor Mamelodi Sundowns left-back, Terrence Mashego, Sportswire has been informed.
It appears that Mashego has no future at Sundowns, a point underscored by his recent inclusion in the Bafana Bafana squad for the ongoing African Nations Championship in East Africa.
Last season, the left-back made only 11 appearances in all competitions as Sundowns secured their eighth consecutive league title.
The arrival of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC in the current transfer window has further diminished Mashego’s chances of a starting spot.
The competition for the left-back position at Sundowns is already fierce, with Divine Lunga, Asekho Tiwani, and Aubrey Modiba all vying for playing time. Lunga, Basadien, and Modiba have all received opportunities this season, while Tiwani, still a youngster, has yet to feature.
Given the intense competition, a loan move to a club like newly promoted Durban City, coached by Gavin Hunt, seems to be the best option for Mashego.
According to Sportswire sources, both parties, including Mashego’s agent, have been in talks to finalize a deal before the transfer window closes.
The 27-year-old joined Sundowns from Cape Town City ahead of the 2022/23 season. His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and unless his situation changes, it is highly likely that he will not be retained.
Since joining the club, Mashego has won three consecutive league titles and the African Football League, featuring in 45 matches across all competitions and scoring one goal.
