Zwane Urges AmaZulu To Stay Humble As They Host Pirates

AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has urged his side to remain humble despite their impressive run of form after securing their third consecutive win and second victory of the year.

Usuthu strengthened their hold on fourth place in the Betway Premiership standings with a 1–0 win over Marumo Gallants at Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a goal from Mlondi Mbanjwa.

AmaZulu now sit on 30 points, level with third-placed Kaizer Chiefs after 16 matches, although Usuthu have played one game more.

They are just two points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who sit top on goal difference, while Orlando Pirates are second, also on 32 points but with an inferior goal difference.

Usuthu have a chance to move to the top of the table if they defeat Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.

The same applies to Pirates, who know that a victory would see them take over top spot in the Betway Premiership.

“They ground out the result; they fought tooth and nail,” Zwane said after the win over Gallants.

“They left nothing on the field. Going forward, we need to keep our feet on the ground, remain humble and continue giving our best as a team. If we take it one game at a time, we will be rewarded.”

However, for AmaZulu to beat Pirates in Durban, they will need to achieve something they have not managed since 2009, when Ayanda Dlamini scored the winning goal at Chatsworth Stadium.

Since Moses Mabhida Stadium was opened for domestic football following the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Pirates have not lost to AmaZulu at the venue.

Interestingly, AmaZulu themselves are unbeaten at the stadium this season.

“We still have a long way to go and a lot to play for,” Zwane added.

“So, we just have to remain humble.”
