“The Margin For Error Is Zero” – How Cardoso Is Using Huawei Tech To Topple Pirates

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says the club’s partnership with Huawei is geared toward elevating team performance through cutting-edge technological integration.
Established early last year, the collaboration is a cornerstone of Sundowns’ long-term vision to strengthen both on-field and off-field operations.
The Chloorkop-based outfit, currently the dominant force in the Betway Premiership, continues to seek innovative ways to maintain its competitive edge over domestic and continental rivals.
“We had a very interesting and important visit to Huawei,” Cardoso told Sundowns TV, having guided the Brazilians to the CAF Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive year, emphasizing the tactical benefits of the alliance.
“We held a productive meeting with Huawei management to discuss how technology can further support our coaching staff. We believe there are immense possibilities for improvement in player development and tactical analysis through these digital tools.”
Sundowns, winners of the last eight consecutive league titles, are currently locked in a fierce “ding-dong” battle with Orlando Pirates for the 2026 crown.
The Buccaneers moved to the summit just before the FIFA international break, sitting on 51 points after 22 matches—though they have played one game more than the defending champions.
Sundowns aim to reclaim the top spot when they host Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this Friday.
“A few months ago, we submitted a club development project focused on this area,” Cardoso added.
“Phase one is already in practice, but in collaboration with Huawei, we are now ready for phase two. This will allow us to take a significant step forward in our technical intentions.”
