Kaze Axe Five More Sekhukhune Stars

Sekhukhune United have confirmed the departure of five players: Lesiba Nku, Lebohang Phiri, Ronaldo Maarman, Sphiwe Mahlangu and Samkelo Sihlali.

The club announced that the players have left following the mutual termination of their contracts after falling out of the club’s plans last season.

Maarman and Mahlangu spent the second half of last season on loan at Durban City, where they helped the club win the Nedbank Cup, the first major trophy in its history.

The Durban-based outfit has since confirmed that neither player will be retained for next season under new head coach Khalil Ben Youssef.

“Sekhukhune United announces the departure of Nku, Phiri, Maarman, Mahlangu and Sihlali following the mutual termination of their contracts,” the club said in a statement.

“We thank each player for their dedication, commitment and contribution during their time with the club and wish them every success in their future endeavours.”

Last Thursday, Sekhukhune also confirmed the departures of Bradley Grobler, Thabang Monare, Sikhosonke Langa, Katlego Mahomme, Ryan Baartman and Rivaldo Coetzee.

The squad overhaul comes under new head coach Cedric Kaze, who served as co-head coach alongside Ben Youssef at Kaizer Chiefs last season.

Kaze replaced Eric Tinkler, who was dismissed towards the end of last season.
