Kaze: “It’s Only The First Leg”

Sekhukhune United coach Cedric Kaze remains confident that his side can overturn the deficit in the second leg of their MTN8 semifinal against Orlando Pirates after suffering a 1-0 defeat in the first leg on Saturday.

Sekhukhune will travel to Orlando Amstel Arena for the second leg next weekend after a disappointing home defeat at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The result leaves Babina Noko under increased pressure heading into the away leg, where they will need to overturn the deficit to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive and cause an upset against the Buccaneers.

Despite the home defeat, Kaze believes the tie remains open and that his side can turn things around in the second leg.

“It’s a game that I think we started defensively well, but I will say that we didn’t have the right intentions and the right conviction to go forward,” said Kaze.

“In the second half, we tried to rectify this with better intentions and a positive mindset going forward as well. I would say that we lacked a little bit of composure in the final third to make the last pass, to make the run and make the pass.”

Before the second leg of the Wafa Wafa semifinal, the two sides will meet again in the league in Soweto on Tuesday.

“But it is only the first leg; I believe we still have 90 minutes to come out on top, and we will do everything to get it done,” added the former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach.

The two teams will renew their rivalry in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday before facing off again in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal next weekend.
