Dolly Among Five Players Released By City After Promotion Failure

Cape Town City have confirmed the departure of several players ahead of the 2026/27 season, including former Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly.
The Citizens have opted to revamp their squad as they prepare for another campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after failing to secure an immediate return to the Premier Soccer League through the promotion/relegation playoffs.
The club has released five players: Dolly, forward Dženan Zajmović, defenders Sifiso Ngobeni and Njabulo Ngcobo, and midfielder Siphamandla Dondolo.
The squad overhaul comes after City appointed Andries Ulderink as their new head coach ahead of the new season. Ulderink replaces Jan Vreman, who was unable to guide the club back to the top flight.
“Cape Town City can confirm the departure of the following players, who have worn the badge with pride and represented the club with heart,” the club said in a statement.
“Each player leaves with our sincere thanks for the dedication, commitment and professionalism they showed during their time at the club. We wish them nothing but success as they begin the next chapter of their journey.”
