Kaze Swings Axe At Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United have wielded the axe, clearing out several high-profile members of their technical team, including assistant coaches Andre Arendse and Marc van Heerden.

Van Heerden initially joined Babina Noko following the arrival of head coach Eric Tinkler during the second half of the 2024/25 season. Tinkler, however, was sacked before the conclusion of that campaign. Arendse—a 1996 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Bafana Bafana—had been brought in by the club after parting ways with Siwelele FC.

Also heading through the exit door is Head of Performance Kyle Solomon, a long-standing member of Pitso Mosimane’s technical brain trust. With Mosimane heavily linked to the vacant Bafana Bafana head coach role, Solomon is tipped to follow him to the national team setup, especially following the recent departure of Bafana’s former performance chief, Sinesipho Mali.

Additionally, the club confirmed that goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner has officially departed after his contract expired last month without a renewal offer.

This massive squad and staff overhaul comes as newly appointed head coach Cedric Kaze begins constructing his own technical team ahead of the next campaign. Kaze, who served as co-coach at Kaizer Chiefs before being sacked at the end of last season, is being given total freedom to reshape Sekhukhune’s backroom staff to mirror his football philosophy.
