From Amakhosi To Babina Noko! Sekhukhune Unveil Ex-Kaizer Chiefs Boss As New Coach

Sekhukhune United have officially confirmed the expected appointment of Cedric Kaze as the club’s new head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
The Burundi-born tactician takes the reins from Eric Tinkler, who was sacked towards the tail-end of last season. Following Tinkler’s dismissal, Paulus Masehe stepped in as caretaker coach to steer the team until the end of the campaign.
While Sekhukhune’s official statement did not explicitly outline the makeup of the new technical team, indications suggest that Masehe will be retained in the backroom setup.
Kaze’s arrival follows a massive technical cleanout at Babina Noko. On Thursday night, the club confirmed the departures of assistant coaches Marc van Heerden and Andre Arendse, alongside Head of Performance Kyle Solomon.
Although Kaze’s appointment is now official, the club has chosen to keep the exact length of his contract under wraps.
The new Sekhukhune boss arrives with strong domestic pedigree, having spent two years at Kaizer Chiefs as second assistant coach to Nasreddine Nabi. During their tenure, the technical team led Amakhosi to a historic Nedbank Cup triumph in the 2024/25 season.
Following Nabi’s sudden dismissal in October last year, Chiefs briefly placed Kaze and fellow assistant Khalil Ben Youssef in charge of the hot seat until the end of the season.
Despite guiding the Soweto giants to a respectable third-place finish in the Betway Premiership, the duo was ultimately relieved of their duties at the end of the season, opening the door for Kaze’s new chapter in Limpopo.
