Kwayiba Lays Out Bold Champions League Ambitions With Stellies

Stellenbosch FC’s new signing, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, says he is determined to earn his place in the team and help the club challenge for major honours during the 2026/27 season.

Stellies have bolstered their squad with the signing of the versatile forward from Chippa United as they prepare for the new campaign following an underwhelming 2025/26 season.

Kwayiba joins the Cape Winelands outfit after the club also secured the services of Thabiso Lebitso from Orlando Pirates as part of its squad rebuild.

The 26-year-old arrives in excellent form after rejoining Chippa in January, where he enjoyed an impressive spell, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 15 appearances. He will now be aiming to carry that form into the upcoming season with Stellies.

Speaking about his move, Kwayiba said he is eager to achieve great things with the club and establish himself in the team. Among his biggest ambitions is helping Stellenbosch qualify for and compete in the CAF Champions League while challenging for domestic silverware.

“Stellenbosch, this season, can achieve many things,” Kwayiba said.

“My ambition is to help the team win games, compete for cups, fight for the league, play in the CAF Champions League, and reach the stage that those guys before me reached.”

As the club’s second signing of the transfer window, he added: “That’s my ambition. The only thing I can say to the Stellenbosch FC fans and family is that when my first game comes around, I’m going to work hard to get into the team, earn my place, play, and do my best for the team and for myself.”

Kwayiba also expressed his delight at joining Stellenbosch, saying he already feels at home at the club.

“It’s nice to have joined Stellenbosch FC and become part of the club,” he said.

“The coach, the staff and the players have welcomed me very well. Since the first day, it has felt like home, and I can already see that this is going to be a great environment for me to play my football.

“I played against Stellenbosch for three seasons, and every time I did, I saw the same thing: the same team and the same organisation. From the outside, you can see how this club operates, the professionalism and how well organised it is. It was never easy playing against Stellenbosch.”
