EXCLUSIVE: Chiefs Lead Race For TS Galaxy Midfielder Maduna

Kaizer Chiefs have emerged as the frontrunners to sign TS Galaxy midfielder Siphesihle Maduna ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, Sportswire can exclusively reveal.
The 26-year-old was noticeably absent from Galaxy’s squad unveiling over the weekend, with his familiar number 10 jersey handed to newcomer Siphesihle Tati.
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed that negotiations for Maduna’s departure are well underway, though he refrained from explicitly naming Amakhosi as the destination.
“We anticipate a move, to be honest. There have been approaches, so we are in talks. When the move happens, we will announce it, or the club concerned will announce it. So, it’s a process,” Sukazi said.
“But this is football. I always say it’s not done until it’s done, until you’ve put pen to paper. But up to now, it’s looking quite positive. It sounds like he might find a new home.”
Why Are Kaizer Chiefs Targeting Siphesihle Maduna?
While Maduna was initially linked with a return to his former club AmaZulu—where he made 86 appearances—Sportswire understands that Chiefs have taken the lead in securing the playmaker’s signature.
The interest comes as midfielder Thabo Cele looks set to depart Naturena. Cele was left out of Chiefs’ preseason camp in Spain and is currently in talks regarding an early contract termination, with a potential return to Europe on the horizon.
How Did Maduna Fare at TS Galaxy?
After leaving Cape Town Spurs in 2024, Maduna successfully revived his career at Galaxy under challenging circumstances:
- Total Appearances: 55 matches across two seasons in all competitions.
- Leadership Role: Captained the side eight times last term in the absence of Mlungisi Mbunjana.
- 2025/26 Campaign: Featured 35 times across all competitions, helping guide Galaxy to the Nedbank Cup final against Durban City.
His arrival at Naturena would provide crucial midfield creativity and depth for Amakhosi as they finalize their roster ahead of the domestic kickoff.
