Arrows Retain Mngqithi As Head Coach

Sportswire can confirm that Golden Arrows has decided to retain Manqoba Mngqithi as their head coach for the upcoming season.
The Umzimkhulu-born mentor rejoined the club in March this year after a brief stint without a team following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns in December 2024.
During his third tenure with Abafana Bes’thende, Mngqithi was in charge of 13 games, winning just three, drawing five, and losing five. Despite the team’s mediocre performance, which saw them finish 12th in the Betway Premiership, the club’s management has chosen to stick with Mngqithi.
Mngqithi’s history with Arrows is marked by significant success, particularly during his first tenure from January 2007 to June 2010. He guided the team to the MTN8 title in the 2009/10 season, with a resounding 6-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town in the final.
The club’s decision to retain Mngqithi is based on their belief that he still has a lot to offer the team in the future.
Despite not finishing in the top eight of the league, Arrows’ management is confident that Mngqithi’s experience and expertise will be invaluable in the upcoming season.
Mngqithi’s second stint with the club, which spanned from October 2012 to October 2013, was also notable, although his latest stint did not yield the same level of success.
Nevertheless, the club’s decision to keep him suggests that they are willing to give him another chance to turn things around.
With Mngqithi at the helm, Abafana Bes’Thende will look to improve their performance and make a push for a top-eight finish in the upcoming season.
