Carling Cup Quarters Draw Confirmed

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed that the 2024/25 Carling Knockout quarterfinal draw will take place on Sunday, 20 October 2024.

The draw will be conducted immediately after the round of 16 fixture between Richards Bay FC and Sekhukhune United on Sunday.

As per Carling Knockout competition rules, the quarterfinal draw is seeded.

Three bowls will be used for the draw, labelled Pot A, Pot B, and Pot C.

Pot A will contain the names of the four seeded clubs (those that finished in the highest Premiership positions from the previous season)

Pot B will be empty and used to determine home and away designations.

Pot C will contain the names of the four unseeded clubs.

A ball will be drawn from Pot A (seeded clubs) and placed in Pot B without opening it.

A ball will then be drawn from Pot C (unseeded clubs) and placed in Pot B without opening it.

From Pot B, the first ball drawn will designate the home team, and the second ball will designate the away team.

The process will be repeated until all four fixtures are confirmed.

The competition that was won by Stellenbosch last season in Durban, will kick off on Friday when AmaZulu host Stellies at King Zwelithini Stadium (19:00).

Five fixtures are on the menu for Saturday as cup kins Orlando Pirates host Magesi FC at Orlando Stadium (15:00) and Polokwane City will host Marumo Gallants at the same time at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Mamelodi Sundowns will host Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium at 18:00. They will be two fixtures at 20:00 as SuperSport United host Kaizer Chiefs at New Peter Mokaba Stadium and Cape Town City hosting FIFA transfer banned side Royal AM at Athlone Stadium.

They will be two fixtures on Sunday as losing finalists TS Galaxy host Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium at 15:00, with day concluded by semi-finalist Richards Bay locking horns with Sekhukhune United at 17:30.
