Chiefs Release Chivaviro

Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed that they will not extend the contract of striker Ranga Chivaviro when it expires at the end of this month.
The 33-year-old striker joined Chiefs from Marumo Gallants at the start of the 2023/24 season. In 20 matches across all competitions for Chiefs in his first season, Chivaviro could not provide the goals the club was hoping for, netting only four times, along with one assist.
This past season, he started well, scoring two goals in Chiefs’ first three matches. However, his numbers dropped, and he leaves the past season having scored just five goals, with his last coming against TS Galaxy in the league in December.
“Kaizer Chiefs will not be extending striker Ranga Chivaviro’s contract when it expires at the end of the month,” Chiefs said in a statement. “The Limpopo-born attacker joined Amakhosi from Marumo Gallants in the 2023/24 season on a two-year deal. He scored nine goals and provided one assist in 45 official matches wearing Chiefs colors over two seasons. We thank Ranga for his positive contribution to the team and wish him all the best in his future exploits.”
Chivaviro becomes the third player to depart after Sabelo Hadebe and Njabulo Blom, who is going back to his club St. Louis City SC, in the United States of America.
It remains to be seen where Chivaviro will head next season, but he is unlikely to be short of options.
