Dladla Vows To Avoid Back-To-Back Defeats

Durban City coach Pitso Dladla has emphasized the high stakes of Saturday afternoon’s Betway Premiership showdown against Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Both teams head into the encounter on the back of defeats. City suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, while Arrows were beaten 5-0 by Orlando Pirates.

Despite the setback, Durban City have enjoyed an impressive debut season in the top flight. They currently occupy sixth position on the table with 35 points from 23 matches.

In addition to their league campaign, City have also reached the final of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face TS Galaxy on 2 May—a side they have already beaten twice in the league this season and previously overcame in last year’s edition of the tournament.

Dladla underlined the significance of the upcoming fixture, particularly as both teams look to bounce back from defeat.

“I think it’s a very, very important game for us because we did not get the desired result in our previous match,” said Dladla.

“We haven’t experienced a situation this season where we lose two games in a row. We know it’s going to be a very difficult game against Arrows because they also did not get a good result, but we are preparing as we speak.

“The boys are looking good, and they are hungry. Yes, we are playing away, but we don’t want to feel that because King Zwelithini is just next door. I’m sure our supporters will come out in numbers, and we will feel at home. We really appreciate the support we’ve been getting.

“It’s a game we know is very important for us to do well,” he added.
