Mabasa Sends Huge Warning: Pirates Can Go Very Far

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa says they need to believe in themselves because they are a quality side after hammering Golden Arrows 7-1 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

Mabasa, who was on loan to Moroka Swallows in the first half of the season, grabbed a hat-trick as Pirates registered their biggest win in the PSL era.

Others on the scoresheets were Relebogile Mofokeng, Kabelo Dlamini, Sandile Mthethwa, and Karim Kimvuidi as the Soweto giants ran in riot to move to third in the DStv Premiership table.

“It’s crazy, this is a talented team and honestly if we can believe in our abilities and work together as a team, listen to instructions, we can go very far with this team,” Mabasa said on SuperSportTV after the game.

“People, like I said a few weeks ago, they will begin and notice what Orlando Pirates is about.”

It was Mabasa’s first career hat-trick, moving him level on the PSL scoring charts to 10 goals with Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

“I mean, we had to fix the mistakes we made in the past two games,” continued Mabasa.

“Because I feel like we deserve the three points but we never took our chances. And today we finally took our chances and the scoreline reflects that perfectly.” Pirates now set their sights as they visit AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium next weekend.

Impressively, Pirates has not lost to AmaZulu in Durban since 2009.
