Mngqithi Reveals Sabotaged Coaching Move

Former Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs were interested in appointing him but claims someone sabotaged his potential move to the club.
Mngqithi has since joined Tanzanian giants Young Africans on Friday after parting ways with Golden Arrows and will lead the club in the upcoming season.
The experienced tactician was heavily linked with a move to Amakhosi following the departures of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.
Mngqithi revealed that the Soweto giants had shown interest in appointing him even before he joined Mamelodi Sundowns, but alleged that someone prevented the move from materialising.
“I know Chiefs were interested in me. It’s not a lie, but it never came to fruition because there are people who block these moves,” Mngqithi said.
“There are people who always find a way to speak negatively about someone. The Chiefs move never even got to the stage of discussing terms or a position because someone blocked it.
“It’s unfortunate that the person who blocked it… but I’m not even worried about it. It is true that there was interest. Even recently, there was interest. I’ve had very cordial talks with senior Kaizer Motaung.
“I know they have always shown interest in me, but for whatever reason, it has never happened. I’ve never had a problem with that because there are plenty of coaching jobs in this world.”
