Phillips Spotted Training With Arrows
Right-back Keenan Phillips has been spotted training with Durban-based club Golden Arrows, hinting at a potential move.
Phillips’ future with Moroka Swallows is uncertain as the club faces a potential sale to Marumo Gallants owner Abram Sello. Swallows’ well-documented financial struggles have impacted players, including Phillips, who were owed salaries.
The 24-year-old Bidvest Wits product left SuperSport United last season to join Swallows. He lost his starting spot at SuperSport due to the emergence of Kegan Johannes, who is now joining Orlando Pirates.
A reunion with coach Steve Komphela at Arrows might be on the cards. Phillips previously worked with Komphela at Swallows in the first half of the season, before both were sidelined in the second half of the season. Phillips didn’t played a single match for Swallows since 23 December 2023, after a goalless draw against Royal AM.
Since his PSL debut in the 2019/20 season, Phillips has made a total of 71 appearances across all competitions, scoring once which came against TS Galaxy early last term. His arrival could bolster the right-back position at Arrows, currently occupied by Brandon Theron, a natural attacker rather than a defender.
