Pirates To Loan Out Duo To Magesi

Sportswire can confirm that Orlando Pirates are set to loan out Siyabonga Ndlozi and Sifiso Luthuli to struggling side Magesi.

This website has learned that both players have already arrived at Magesi’s camp in Limpopo, where the team is preparing for the second half of the season.

John Maduka’s side is in need of reinforcements in both defence and attack, as they currently sit second from bottom on the log with 11 points after 14 matches.

Ndlozi (23), who made his Pirates debut against Sekhukhune United in December 2024, has struggled for game time, finding himself behind Deano van Rooyen, Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu in the right-back position.

He has featured in just three matches across all competitions, which has contributed to Pirates’ decision to loan him out.

Luthuli, like Ndlozi a product of the Pirates development structures, is yet to start a match for the Soweto giants this season, despite the club sitting at the top of the table.

However, the lanky striker did find the net in December when Pirates lifted the Carling Cup after defeating the Carling All-Stars at Moses Mabhida Stadium. He ran onto a pass from Deon Hotto before calmly clipping the ball into the net to score his first senior goal.

Despite that goal, Luthuli remains behind Tshegofatso Mabasa — who is also set to join Stellenbosch on loan — as well as Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma in the striking pecking order, and that appearance appears to have been his last for the Soweto giants for now.

Interestingly, Magesi are scheduled to resume their league campaign against Pirates on 31 January at Orlando Stadium.

It remains to be seen whether Ndlozi and Luthuli will feature in that match, as Pirates have previously not allowed loaned-out players to face their parent club.
