PSL Playoffs To Start On Wednesday After Legal Battle

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the PSL promotion and relegation playoffs will commence on Wednesday, following a delay caused by a dispute over the rightful winners of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The playoffs had been postponed after JDR Stars and Cape Town Spurs protested that Durban City player, Saziso Magawana, was improperly registered by the PSL. Both teams lodged protests with the PSL Disciplinary Committee, but these were dismissed with costs.
They then escalated the matter to SAFA arbitration, where it was also thrown out, ultimately affirming Durban City as the Motsepe Foundation Championship winners after they finished at the top of the table.
According to the league’s release, the playoffs will begin next Wednesday and will be contested by Casric Stars, who finished third in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and Orbit College, who secured second place. Cape Town City, having finished 15th in the Betway Premiership table, will be the third team vying to retain their Betway Premiership status.
