Richards Bay Appoint Bulgaria Coach After Gabriel Exit

Richards Bay has confirmed the appointment of Dimitar Nikolaev Pantev as their new head coach.

The Bulgarian-born manager replaces Ronnie Gabriel, who resigned following a 5-1 defeat to Milford.

Siboniso Gumede briefly took charge as interim head coach, but his tenure began with a 3-2 loss to Sekhukhune United.

Pantev has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional year, contingent on his performance at the end of the season. The 50-year-old, who holds a UEFA A Licence, takes over a Richards Bay side sitting third from the bottom of the table with just three points from seven matches (four losses and three draws).

“The club is delighted to welcome the coach to Richards Bay Football Club and wishes him all the best,” read an official club statement.

Pantev brings extensive experience across African football. He most recently managed Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy, whom he departed in June.

His coaching career also includes spells at Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Gaborone United, Orapa United, Victoria United, FC Johansen, and Flamengo KSA.
