Stellenbosch Confirm Three Signings

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of three new players – Shakeel April, Asekho Tiwani and Wonderboy Makhubu.
April joins the Cape Winelands club from Cape Town City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Tiwani arrives on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns and Makhubu signs from Sekhukhune United on a permanent deal.
The club confirmed that the respective transfers were concluded ahead of Thursday’s registration deadline, with all three players already reporting for training in preparation for the weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup fixture against CR Belouizdad.
“We are pleased to conclude the January transfer window by welcoming Shakeel, Wonderboy and Asekho to the club,” Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said.
“We believe that these signings, together with those who arrived earlier in the month, have strengthened our squad in key areas and will provide us with a significant boost in the second half of the season.”
April and Tiwani arrive as two of South Africa’s brightest young prospects after playing key roles in the national team’s triumph at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and impressing at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile last year. South Africa were eliminated in the round of 32 by Colombo following an expanded tournament format.
Makhubu, meanwhile, joins as an experienced attacking option, having scored 15 goals in 38 league appearances during a loan spell at Magesi FC from Sekhukhune United over the past two-and-a-half seasons.
In terms of squad numbers, April will wear No. 77, Makhubu No. 36, and Tiwani has been handed the No. 13 jersey.
