TS Galaxy Queens Closes Gap On Sundowns Ladies
The Hollywoodbets Super League saw thrilling matches this past weekend, with TS Galaxy Queens taking a significant step towards catching up with league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Galaxy Queens secured a 2-0 win over UJ Ladies, propelling them to within one point of Sundowns, who have 41 points from 17 games. Galaxy now has 40 points from 17 games, putting immense pressure on Sundowns.
Meanwhile, Sundowns had a setback in the COSAFA CAF Women’s League qualifiers, losing 2-1 to Zesco Ndola Girls in the semifinal. This loss means Sundowns will not participate in the Champions League this year for the first time.
In other matches, Durban Ladies and Royal AM continued to struggle. Durban Ladies lost 2-1 to First Touch Ladies, remaining at the bottom of the log with just five points from 20 games. Royal AM suffered a 5-0 thrashing at home against JVW Girls, sitting 15th on the log with 13 points from 22 games.
Ezemvelo, the only team doing well in KZN, secured a 1-0 win over City Lads, while University of Fort Hare Ladies played out a 0-0 draw against UCT Ladies.
UWC continued their struggle, losing 1-0 at home to TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies. University of Pretoria dominated Richmond Ladies with a 4-0 win.
The Hollywoodbets Super League will resume this upcoming weekend with five games, including a crucial match between TS Galaxy Queens and City Lads. If Galaxy Queens win, they will move to the top of the log, as Sundowns will not be playing.
Other matches include JVW Girls visiting Copperbelt Ladies, UCT Ladies facing First Touch, and Durban Ladies hosting Richmond Ladies. The final match will take place on Sunday between Ezemvelo and the University of Fort Hare.
