Mr Price Sport Partners With Greater Durban Local Football Association

(GDLFA) proudly announce a new partnership with Mr Price Sport, coming on board as a Tier 1 sponsor of the GDLFA.

This partnership is set to elevate local football development and provide much-needed resources to develop and nurture football talent in the region.

The GDLFA’s first official tournament of the season is the 5-a-side tournament for juniors on Sunday, 13 April, at Danville Sports Fields in Virginia, featuring over 250 teams.

An Easter tournament for the seniors will take place the following weekend at Riverside Sports, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for football in the region.

GDLFA chairperson Adrian Johnson expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership:

“This collaboration with Mr Price Sport, one of the country’s most loved brands, signals a new chapter for local football, taking the game to the next level. We are incredibly excited to embark on this journey with Mr Price Sport to grow South Africa’s most beloved sport.”

With over 7,500 amateur players across 108 clubs, the GDLFA has grown exponentially since its origins back in 2006, when it started with just 20 clubs.

Today, it stands as the largest affiliate within the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) Ethekwini Region, with a strong focus on youth development.

The association runs programmes for 5,600 junior players between the ages of 5 and 19, laying a solid foundation for future national and international stars.

Philippa Feher, Head of Marketing at Mr Price Sport, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for this partnership: “As a proudly South African brand that is all about making living an active lifestyle accessible to everyone, it only makes sense that we invest in football, a thriving and loved South

African sport, to uplift and give everybody the opportunity to feel the power of sport. The league has over 7,500 participants ranging from age 6 to over 35; we really are partnering with people from all groups and backgrounds through this partnership.”

Mr Price Sport’s commitment to supporting local communities and fostering a sense of unity is exemplary of its vision. Through this sponsorship, the brand aims to enhance the experience for participants, coaches, and spectators alike, ensuring that the Greater Durban Local Football Association continues to thrive as a platform for talent development and community engagement.
