Chiefs Set To Miss Two Stars For Crucial Sekhukhune Clash

Kaizer Chiefs will be without two key players for their decisive Betway Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (15:00) as they aim to register a respectable finish in the top eight.

While the Soweto giants finally put an end to their decade-long trophy drought at the expense of bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final last weekend, their league form is leaving a lot to be desired.

The Naturena-based outfit currently sits in position nine on the log standings with 30 points accumulated from 26 league outings. As a result, this has cast doubts on the future of coach Nasreddine Nabi, with swirling reports suggesting he is set for crunch talks with the management.

Chiefs head into the match with a seven-game winless run, with their last victory dating back to the beginning of March against Magesi FC. In contrast, Babina Noko are unbeaten in their last five league matches, with 45 points, staging a third-place standing ahead of the encounter.

With the must-win match on the horizon, Amakhosi will have to do without the reliable services of center-back Inacio Miguel and left-back Bradley Cross, with the duo serving suspensions in the crucial stages of the season for Nabi and his charges.

The Angolan defender was cautioned for his fourth yellow card of the season in the Ke Yona Cup final, while the former Golden Arrows player received his marching orders in the Soweto derby league defeat a week before.

On the other hand, Eric Tinkler’s troops will also be without key attacker Chibuike Ohizu, who has scored six league goals and provided a solitary assist in 18 matches. The Nigerian forward got into the referee’s books in stoppage time one week ago against Magesi FC.
