Chippa Appoint Former Sundowns Coach
Chippa United has appointed former Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge mentor Sinethemba Badela as their new coach.
Badela replaces Thabo September, who departed at the end of the past season. September was appointed to the head coaching role in January after Kwanele Kopo did not renew his contract with the club.
When September took over, he brought in Mabhuti Khenyeza as his assistant; however, both have since been released by the club due to unsatisfactory results.
Similar to September, this will be Badela’s first head coaching role in the Betway Premiership. He previously served as Sundowns’ DDC coach before leaving at the end of the 2023/24 season.
He then moved to Wydad Casablanca in Morocco to work as an assistant coach under Rulani Mokwena, but they both left at the end of the recent season. Badela also has prior experience as a head coach for Cape Town All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Chippa United confirmed that Badela’s new technical team will be announced soon.
