Arrows Set To Sign Former AmaZulu Striker

Sportswire has learned that Golden Arrows are on the verge of signing striker Junior Dion.

Dion was recently released by Arrows’ rivals, AmaZulu, as one of 19 players let go at the end of last season.

Dion was deemed surplus to requirements by Usuthu in the second half of last season and was loaned out to Marumo Gallants. The Ivory Coast striker played in 12 matches for Gallants during that loan stint, scoring three goals.

However, that wasn’t enough to convince coach Arthur Zwane and his management to retain him for the upcoming season, and they decided to part ways with him.

Dion, whom Usuthu initially signed from Gallants in the 2022/23 season, is now a free agent and has the right to join a club of his choice.

Sportswire has been informed that he will remain in Durban and is close to a move to Abafana Bes’Thende, under the guidance of coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

It’s expected that Dion will soon join other new Arrows signings, such as Yakho Singho, Jerome Karelse, and Osborne Maluleka.

These players will be part of the Arrows squad featuring in the KZN Premier’s Cup this coming weekend in Richards Bay. Interestingly, Arrows will face Dion’s former club, AmaZulu, in the playoffs on Saturday at 11:00.

Following the pre-season cup, Arrows’ first game of the 2025/26 season, according to the PSL draft, will be against newly formed Siwelele FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, August 9.
