Broos: Bafana’s Destiny Is In Their Own Hands

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has stated that the team’s destiny is in their own hands following their impressive 3-0 victory over Lesotho in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The win at Toyota Stadium on Friday, which saw goals from Mohau Nkota, Lyle Foster, and Oswin Appollis, cemented Bafana Bafana’s position at the top of Group C with 16 points after seven matches.
Focusing on the Task at Hand
The team is now preparing to face a desperate Nigeria at the same venue in Bloemfontein on Tuesday. Nigeria, who are set to play Rwanda on Saturday, cannot afford to drop points in their quest to climb the table.
Broos emphasized that despite their strong position, the job is not yet done. “We have to go on now, and that is the most important thing,” Broos told SABC Sport.
“We still have not qualified, even though we are in a very good position. But there are still three games, and we are in a very good position; we have it in our hands. So, we will try not to give it away, and in one month, we will have a big party.”
In the African qualifiers, only the group winners automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The four best-placed runners-up will get a second chance via a play-off round.
