Musona Rescues Zimbabwe Against Angola In AFCON Group B Clash

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona scored deep into stoppage time as Zimbabwe held Angola to a 1-1 draw in their second Group B match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at Stade de Marrakech on Friday.

The result is good news for Bafana Bafana, as a victory over Egypt would see South Africa cement top spot in Group B and secure qualification for the round of 16.

Bafana Bafana and Egypt are set to face each other at Stade Adrar in Agadir.

Zimbabwe went into the match looking to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat to Egypt on Monday, a game in which they had taken the lead through former SuperSport United striker Prince Dube.

However, goals from Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah helped the record AFCON champions come from behind to claim victory.

Angola, meanwhile, began their tournament with a 2-1 loss to South Africa.

In Friday’s encounter, Angola striker Gelson Dala opened the scoring in the 24th minute, finishing at the back post from a cross by To Carneiro.

With six minutes of stoppage time added, Musona produced a moment of brilliance to equalise for Zimbabwe just before the break. The former Kaizer Chiefs forward controlled the ball superbly before firing past goalkeeper Hugo Marques.

With just one point each from two matches, both Angola and Zimbabwe now face an uphill battle to progress. They will take on Egypt and South Africa respectively on 29 December, with the final Group B matches scheduled to kick off simultaneously.
