KZN Sports Awards To Return In 2026

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Sports Awards are set to make a welcome return after not being held in 2025, a decision that was taken to align the provincial event with the South African Sports Awards calendar.

The South African Sports Awards are scheduled to take place in April, and the KZN Sports Awards will also be staged during the same period. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the provincial awards ceremony will be held before or after the national event.

Despite the uncertainty around the exact date, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport has officially opened the nomination process and is calling on eligible individuals, teams, and organisations across the province to submit their entries for consideration. The awards aim to celebrate and recognise outstanding achievement, dedication, leadership, and meaningful contributions to sport and recreation within KwaZulu-Natal.

The qualifying period for nominations spans from 9 September 2024 to 31 December 2025, ensuring that performances and contributions made over more than a year are taken into account. This extended window allows athletes, coaches, administrators, volunteers, and sporting bodies an opportunity to be acknowledged for excellence across various sporting codes.

According to the department, all nominations must comply strictly with the KZN Sports Awards Rulebook, which outlines the full criteria, categories, and procedures for entry. Nominees are required to complete the prescribed nomination form in full and submit all relevant supporting documents and evidence to substantiate their achievements.

The department has emphasised that incomplete nominations or submissions received after the closing date will not be considered, underlining the importance of adhering to the guidelines.

The closing date for all nominations is 15 February 2026.

Submissions can be made electronically, with signed and/or stamped nomination forms required to be emailed to Sportawards@kzndsac.gov.za. Alternatively, nominations may be submitted online via the official portal at https://apps.kzndsac.gov.za/nominations/index.php.

The KZN Sports Awards continue to play a vital role in recognising excellence at provincial level and celebrating those who contribute to the growth and development of sport across the region. With the awards returning after a brief pause, anticipation is expected to grow as the province prepares to honour its sporting achievers once again.
